The Call Of God

Every one of us has a call of God for our lives. You are called by God to do something specific for Him. There is no useless person in life and you should not be drifting through life without a sense of destiny or purpose. From David’s experience in 2 Samuel 5, you can learn five important lessons about discerning Gods calling for you:

(1) What word or rhema have you received from the Lord? That word will be a good indicator of your calling in life. David had a word from heaven that he shall be the shepherd and ruler of Israel (5:1-2). Faith comes by hearing that rhema. Without that rhema revelation, you wont have the faith to obey.

(2) What are you gifted and anointed with? David was anointed three times in his life: by the prophet Samuel, by the men of Judah, and by the elders of Israel (5:3). An anointing is an impartation of ability by the Holy Spirit. God never wastes His anointing. What He has gifted and anointed you with is often indicative of your calling.
--> So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. 2 Samuel 5:20

God works through spiritual protocol. A calling upon your life should be evident to the mature, spiritual leadership God has surrounded you with. Let them confi rm your calling.

(4) How are your enemies opposing you? If you are not walking in your calling, you will never be a threat to Satan. But the moment you step into your destiny, you can be sure he is not going take things lying down. He will be very agitated and start hindering you (5:3). Sometimes, an unprovoked attack could be an indication that you are walking in your calling.

(5) What breakthrough has God provided you with? When David went to the Valley of Rephaim, God provided a way for him to attain resounding victory over his enemies. He renamed that valley Baal Perazim, which means “Master of Breakthroughs”(5:20). God often speaks to us through an open door. When you receive a breakthrough in an impossible situation, it is a good sign that God wants you to walk through it. That is your calling from the Lord.

The Power Of Tithing

And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s. It is holy to the LORD. Leviticus 27:30

The principle of tithing is so important because it is the most basic Bible test of your faithfulness in stewardship. It also qualifies or disqualifies you from God’s wealth and abundance.

Tithing predates the Mosaic law because Abraham was a faithful tither long before the law was established on Mount Sinai. When he met Melchizedek, he “gave him a tithe of all” (Gen. 14:19-20).

Abraham’s faithful stewardship resulted in him becoming the richest man of his generation.
Jacob was a tither. When he came to Bethel, he made a vow to the Lord, “Of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You” (Gen. 28:22). Jacob’s faithful stewardship also resulted in him becoming the richest man of his generation.

Abraham and Jacob prove that saints of God started tithing long before Moses gave the law. Tithing has to do with your heart and love for God. You tithe not because you have to, but because you want to. When Moses eventually came along, the people were taught tithing.

At the end of the Old Testament, Malachi the prophet says, “‘Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,’ says the LORD of hosts” (Mal. 3:10-11).

Here, the Bible gives you five great blessings that you can experience if you tithe regularly:

(1) Your church will continue to be a blessing. The storehouse in City Harvest Church will be full, enabling it to continue discipling you and evangelizing the world.

(2) Heaven will be open over you. You will hear from the Lord clearly. You can easily walk in His presence and His power will become readily available to you at all times.

(3) The devourer will be rebuked. God will protect your finances from being “eaten away” by Satan and the financial system of the world.

(4) Your hard work will bear fruit. Your career will take off and you will prosper in your work place.

(5) Your investments will prosper. The wise investments you make will bring back a good return.

Be a regular tither every month and “try God now” in your faithful giving!

Qualifications For Leadership

They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God, for they offer theofferings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.
Leviticus 21:

The call to spiritual leadership is a great privilege and honor. There were 12 conditions given for
the selection of priests:

(1) No man who is blind. You have to be a person of vision and revelation. A leader leads from the front. If you don’t know what God is saying and where He is taking you, you can’t be a leader in the house of the Lord.

(2) No man who is lame. God is holy. If you are not walking uprightly with the Lord, you can’t be His leader.

(3) No man with a flat nose (KJV). In the Bible, the nose symbolizes spiritual discernment. A leader has to be a discerner of people’s hearts (Heb. 5:14).

(4) No man with any limb too long. This speaks of those who are unbalanced in doctrine or those who have added teachings that are not of God. Such people would lead Christians astray.

(5) No man with a broken foot. Proverbs 25:19 talks about an unfaithful man as a person with a broken foot. A leader has to be reliable and trustworthy.

(6) No man with a broken hand. Such a priest can’t carry the vessels of the Lord in the tabernacle. His services would be faulty. A leader must have the ability to serve God well.

(7) No man who is a hunchback. A leader must be able to shoulder burdens. He must have a steely backbone to carry the weight of the ministry.

(8) No man who is a dwarf. Someone who is immature and stunted in his spiritual growth can’t be a leader in God’s house.

(9) No man with a defect in his eye. Jesus talks about being single-eyed (Matt. 6:22, KJV). Being focused and determined to fulfill the vision of the Lord is a leadership qualification.

(10) No man with scurvy (KJV). This person is not properly nourished in his life. A leader has to feed on daily manna from heaven—the Word of God.

(11) No man with a scab. You can’t be a leader if your life is not spotless and without blemish. A leader of God must have proven character and a good reputation.

(12) No man who is a eunuch. A leader in God’s house must have the capacity to produce life and bring forth fruit.

I think that this is a good devotion for all of us- to take a look and re-examine our lives of the qualities that we would like to develop in the house of God. Though not all of us are called to be CGL but i believe that God has called us to be leaders in His house in all areas.

In line with what i shared with you guys on Friday about Speaking life into the dry bones in our lives and breaking through to the next level, let's also look at this and put everything into perspectives in our lives :)

One day I decided to quit...
I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality...
I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I asked, "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said.

"Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"

"Yes", I replied.

"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I t ook very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water.

The fern quickly grew from the earth.
Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.

"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit."

"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He asked me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots."

"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."
"Don't compare yourself to others." He said.

"The bamboo had a different Purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.." "Your time will come", God said to me.
"You will rise high"

"How high should I rise?" I asked.

"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.

"As high as it can?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."

I left the forest and brought back this story.
I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
Never, Never, Never Give up.

For the Prayer is not an option but an opportunity.
Don't tell the Lord how big the problem is, tell the problem how Great the Lord is.

- Lot and his family were told not to look back nor stay anywhere plain, if not they will be destroy.

- Lot's wife look back and hence became a pillar of salt.

Friends,
lets not look back or desire what you have leave behind
because our walk with God is always FORWARD
we got to step forward and be prepare for what is ahead of us.

The 4 things that you should not look back at:
1) Don't look back at the OLD SINS that were already been forgiven.
> Psalm 103:12
all our sins had already been forgiven by JESUS on the cross...

2) Don't look back at the OLD DEFEATS that get you down
- even thought you had fail, but at least you had give it a try! =]
> Psalm 37: 32
Remember** Failure is never the last word!!

3) Don't look back at the OLD CONFLICTS that make you bitter
we are not prefect yeah?
As no one is prefect, there will not be this SOMEONE here on Earth that knows you so well that there will no be conflicts.
Hence, the more you look back at the OLD CONFLICTS, the more you feel the pain, the more you will get hurt from it

** release it, God will disperse it**
go and talk to Him yeah??

4) Don't look back at the OLD VICTORIES and think you have arrived.

It is just like running
imagine that you are now on the track

you can do one of the following:
1) recall back what you have done the previous time when you won and this will pull you back
2) dash forward not recalling anything but just with this in your mind "just move forward!"

if you were to choose 1, you will indeed lose out as the "THINGS" in you head is pulling you behind.
Is like when you are in your primary school, you got 1st in class for your math
and in secondary, you still think that you are goo din your math and not moving/ trying hard enough.
Which end up you will still be the same as you are in your primary school, only know how to do simple mathematic like plus, minus, times, divide. What about algebra, factorization etc?

hello guys!!

Think pastor shared a mind-blowing word- did you become thinner, or fatter or grow taller?? lols..

But i really believe that what pastor shared is so so so good- let's apply it into our lives- each morning as we look into the mirror, when we talk to each other- let's speak positive words into each other lives. When we think- let's think great thoughts, God thoughts and when we pray- begin to have faith and speak it into existence.

we have not because we ask not- what do you want? what do you need? ask and it shall be given to you!!!!

Hi guys,

I am awaken well partly due to the fact that they are renovating my block early in the morning but also by the many stuff that are happening in the CG!!

Please really keep Vincent, Li Yun and Cyra in prayers- the devil is not happy we are doing so much to see people getting saved and bringing people to the Lord.

- Vincent's family they are going through some transition in their family business. Pray for Vincent's dad to find a good job and that the family will have a financial breakthrough. Pray that the family will get stronger as they go through this together!

- Liyun's parents are unhappy and not going to let us use the house for CG but on top of that, they also not happy with liyun coming out for Cg and events. Pray for Liyun's parents- Pray for favour and pray that God will intervene on our behalf against the lies of the devil.

- Cyra's mom burned her bible and locked her up at home so that she cannot come for church. pray for breakthrough and pray that God will make a way.

On top of all these, Pray for the 3 of them as well, pray for strength and courage as they go through these.

guys, i know that you guys would be reading this- be strong and of good courage, realise how all these are after we talk about and make a decision how we want to grow the cg, grow the connect group, how we want to reach out to the polys. this is not coincidence, this is WAR!! but always remember that God works in ways we cannot see- let's believe God that in the midst of all these, He will turn things around for us and everything will be alright!

Also, let's keep the 'O' levelers in prayers- Kenneth, Xiu Yuan, Wui An, Chloe, Jia Wei, Jia Cheng, Alan, Wan Hong and the many friends that came before!!

and for the rest, let's pray that God will keep us strong and protect us always!!!

"Son/Daughter-ship" - By Pastor Kong

God

Builds HIS churches by Generations and through Mature Relationships.
These Mature Relationships are built by having Sons and Daughters throughout the world.

A Son of God.

"Son" in Greek, means a Mature Person who can be established with Responsibility.
He is Capable and has the Capacity to carry the Passions of the kingdom.
Has the ability and responsibility to build the house of God.

The House of God

Can only be built by Sons and Daughters, not by servants or members.
This is as a Son/Daughter carries the specific Genetic Code of the house of God.
A Son/Daughter of God can be seen from the resemblance of the elements from the house of God.

Difference of a Son & Member

A Son shares the heart of His Father while a member or servant listens to instructions from his superior.
E.g. A Servant serves when told, A Son serves without being told and without question.

Requirements Of Son-ship

Son-ship requires unconditional love
As being a Son, ADOPTION is a Two-Way Street cause Love works both-ways.
Process of Discipleship is like feeling in Love.
With Faithfulness comes Promotion

The House of God

Is a place of Visions & Dreams
The Gate of Heaven
The Altar of God on Earth

With Son-Ship

God will be faithful to his word
Blessed life

dun you guys think that this is like something which will happen to all the backslided
and those who have drieven away from god

people start to feel that God dun know them,
god did not give them what they wan
god did not see through their heart
hence, they feel that they did not know him that well
so, they start to close the door of their heart to him
start to build wall in their heart

but actually, most of them,
they hope that god will once again open their heart again
because they are feeling down, they are facing soemthing which make them feel that
"GOD IS THE ONE"
but they just HOPE and did not do anything,
do they think that god will do what they want?
therefore, they start to feel that god is hurting them becoz he did not give them wat they want
even if they HOPE so much

but to all those friends
had you guys ever believe in him?
had you guys start to pray and talk to him?
believe,
one day, god will go in to break down the wall of your heart
becoz all of you are his child
are there parents who dun care about their own child?

Apart from all these, let's really pray for the earthquake situation in China, Si Chuan is Jiawei's hometown and i believe that she is very concerned and worried about her family and friends there. We might not be able to be part of the rescue team to help them directly but there is no distance in prayers. Let's pray that the rescue work will go well and that there will not be any more casualties.

Let's stand in the gap to pray- a place of agreement is a place of POWER!! Let's bring down the power of God to China today.

Also, let's keep the students who are still studying for their exams in prayers. People like Kenneth, Jiawei, Alan, Jia Cheng, Hui Ji, Charmain and Terence. Also CJ and Jodie are also still having exams and the Poly peeps who are having their tests now. Let's keep each other in prayers!!

Hi guys,

really want to thank you guys for such a great birthday celebrations. Just want to say that it is really a privilege to be the leader of this CG.

As we go through the rest of this year, i really hope to see us getting close (not literally) but more united and a greater "togetherness" and from here we are going to do more and greater stuff for God together! continue to grow in the Lord even more so!

hehe yo people! apart from studying just to meet the minimum requirement! lets really study for our future!

Sometimes just studying 40, 50 , 60 hours doesn't guarantee good results but it does not give you the excuse to stop studying!

let there be a renewal of our mind! lets really be fruitful even if its a few hours daily!
" just flipping through textbook for few hours is not studying, just skip all those hard question isn't studying hard".

Just hang out with those "hardworking" students, you know that they maximize their studying hours, learn from them their good attitude and the right method of studying!..

sometimes we may think we are already very hard working but ask someone who is scoring good results , ask them if what you do is already hardworking to score good result... you will be surprise! JIAYOU! don't give up! gogogo!

People have you been studying?

Regarding the question liwei asked me during cg: Why is studying important to me?
I had thought about it and I felt that I studied so hard is because..
Firstly, my psle grades wouldn't very good, i got 202, which was a very average score. Among my friends and cousins, I'm the WORST! That is very I don't want to be looked down by others. In sec one, I failed my maths. Ha, but I started to be hardworking when I was in Sec two and became 4th in my class. Not showing off here, but guys, really every success comes in with sweat and HARDWORK! And that gives me the motivation to work even harder! So in sec3 and 4, i managed to maintain my results.. and i'm in the top 10%.. hee:)
Secondly, I don't want my parents to be worried for me. I once went through parental objection because my parents were worried of my time management and were afraid that it will pull down my grades. Thank God, I managed to hang on!
Thirdly, and most importantly, I want to be a testimony of God in both my family and my friends. I want to be the head, and not the tail. I want to let them know that even being committed to church activites, i can still glorify God with my results. And do alot better then the rest. Although I'm not very please with my results, God had planned this for me and I should carry on with my life. (This is the don't give up spirit!)

How do I get 40 study hours?
I went tuition, went remedial, find teacher for help, ask my brother for help and self study. I don't watch television, I don't go for any movies, I don't shop, etc. The only place I went was cg and service. During Olevel days, i skipped school. (which is a bad thing) But i still woke up at 6am, to self study. So during that period, it actually adds up about 60 hours=) Oh yes! for me, I went library to study, 10am-9pm, thats my routine:)

Friends, i don't know if my life story helps you, but if you want get good grades, you have to change the attitude of studying! Thats all for today!

Hence, let's really be faithful in our Bible reading. 3 months had passed for this year and no matter how it went- its over. Let's start to be consistent for the rest of the year in our bible reading.

I have sent out and email to you to follow and read the bible through for the rest of the year. If you dint get it- LET ME KNOW!! sometimes the mail get lost in cyberspace for some reason!!

let's be more spiritual for the rest of this year and see ourselves grow more in the word!!

and sat i am going to blood donation with liyun and vincent!! yeah!! i look blood donations! i think that i am weird but its fun!! and it makes easter very meaningful!! and PASTOR PHIL!!!! oh my..i think that its going to be great!!!

Today it was raining very heavily. But the few of us (kenneth, max and I, liyun) went to wuian's place to attend art and craft lesson. At the end of the day, we manage to learn PATIENCE! :D lol I almost gave up after doing the first one but in the end manage to do 3:) (2 small ones) Total we had about 13 done balloons. That is not the end, we still have to paint it. GOSH! :) I think jiahui came later, she helped us to ta bao food. Chicken rice with nomal roasted chicken (any portion), prawn noodle dry (hokkien noodle) with noodle and prawn and noodle, kui tiao, dry fishball noodle with chilli. Haha. This are actually normal food but it just sounds so complicated!

10 COMMANDMENTS!

The 10 Commandments:

1 No food and drinks are to be consumed or kept in all accommodation areas.
2 Members of opposite sex are not allowed to share the same toilet.
3 Campers should be properly attired with covered shoes when participating the activities.
4 Smoking and consumption of alcoholic drinks are strictly not permitted in the campsite.
5 Campers should ensure cleanliness of accommodation areas and toilets at all times.
(Eg: No footwear is allowed into the dormitories hence they are to placed at the shoe racks outside)
6 Campers are not allowed to leave the camp vicinity without the permission of the Camp Committee.
7 Campers are required to travel around in pairs at all times in consideration of their safety and are accountable to ther Team in-charge constantly as to where they are going.
8 Campers are expected to maintain good conduct during the whole camp.
(Eg: No vulgarities, late coming and display of bad attitude.)
9 Campers are required to take care of their own personal belongings at all times.
10 Campers MUST wash the utensils after use at the designated washing areas.

Hi guys,

there are a few things:

1. We need to pray for a CG place- Thanks to Liyun for availing her house to be used for the past few months for CGM!! but now we got to find a new place for CGM. So, i hope that you can try to find out and open up your place for CG if possible..even if it is only for the short run. and of cos, let's back it up with prayers! i dont think that this is something that we can do on our own efforts but let's depend on God to help us on this..

2. We will be having the lantern festival mini-celebrations- so do get your mooncakes (just one each will do!)and also your mortal a LANTERN!!

Hello guys,

this place is so dead that i decided i shld add some life into it..do liven up this place!!!!

Anyway, i just wanna thank all for such a great graduation for me!! thanks thanks!! really really made my day..all the efforts that you guys have put in in spite of being busy for your prelims and exams and school and everything else. i thank God for cell group members like all of you!!!!

thanks so much and love lots!!!

this week is sept school holidays!!! though most of you guys have to study..it is still a good break. so this friday, put aside all the studying and let's gather together for some fun before the school starts again the next week.

we'll be meeting at liyun's place for pot-luck, then after that we can go for SAFRA for some fun too!!! so see you guys on friday but if you all wanna go out or anything during the week, just let me know- i am more free now!! yeah!!!

here is my first post here at our CG blog!!! yay!! i really like this song- i used to sing it when i first came to church and it really brought me back to those days..let's offer up our lives to God and allow God to use us in a greater way in this CG like never before.. :)

haha hi guys! we will be having our first outing on 9 Aug 07 at marina south! lets go out and invite our friends for this events! below are some of the detail to take note of. attendance will be collect from monday onwards! =)

Venue : Marina Bay MRT

Time : 2.30 pm

Attire : Sports wear

Others : please bring extra clothes ( if needed), bring $12 for the steamboat, please wear sports

shoes and no slipper.
